Certificate in Computer Application Development

Successful graduates will be prepared for entry-level employment as application developers and they will be certified as fluent in the use of:

1. C#

2. Java

3. SQL

4. HTML, CSS and Javascript

5. Python

Upon completion of the Certificate in Application Development program, the graduate will be able to:

1. Analyze users’ needs, then design, test, and develop software to meet those needs

2. Recommend software upgrades for customers’ existing programs and systems

3. Design each piece of the application or system and plan how the pieces will work together

4. Create flowcharts and other models that instruct programmers how to write the software’s code

5. Ensure that the software continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing

6. Document every aspect of the application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrades

7. Collaborate with other computer specialists to create optimum software

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012 edition, employment in the Application Development field is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations and add 143,800 new jobs over the 2010-20 decade. The median annual wage of applications software developers was $87,790 in May 2010. The median annual wage of systems software developers was $94,180 in May 2010

Prerequisites:

Must be a High School Graduate or have a GED, be able to use a keyboard, mouse, and the windows operating system. New Dell or equivalent laptop computer included for new students. Laptop offer valid June 1, 2015-September 30, 2015. Restrictions apply. Ask for details.

Upon completion of the degree in Software Development program, the graduate will be able to:

  1. Analyze users’ needs, then design, test, and develop software to meet those needs

Outlook

According to the U.S. Department of Labor statistics, employment of computer systems is expected to grow by 20 percent from 2008 to 2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for Software Engineers, Web Developers, and Network and System Administrators will increase as organizations continue to adopt and integrate increasingly sophisticated technologies and as the need for information security grows.

Salary

The average wages of Software Engineers were $90,000 in 2016.

This institution is approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education to offer degree programs. To continue to offer degree programs, this institution must meet the following requirements:

  1. Become institutionally accredited by accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, with the scope of the accreditation covering at least one degree program.
  2. Achieve accreditation candidacy or pre-accreditation, as defined in regulations, by July 1, 2017, and full accreditation by July 1, 2020.

If this institution stops pursuing accreditation, it must:

  1. Stop all enrollment in its degree, programs, and
    Provide a teach-out to finish the educational program or provide a refund.
  2. An institution that fails to comply with accreditation requirements by the required dates shall have its approval to offer degree programs automatically suspended.
